The game of Aggravation has been around a long time. I am guessing that it is one of the most common homemade board games out there. I have taken the original game and adapted it to using eight-sided dice. My first attempt that I made for my wife was a two-sided version commonly seen with one side for four players and the other side for six. The problem I had with that design is the game changes because of the different number of holes in the 4 player and 6 player version.
So I decided to modify my new version into what is my final design. Aggarv8ion is now a five player game, with the same number of spaces on the board whether playing with two or five people. Most games of Aggravation are usually played with 2 or 4 players anyway. It gets crowded if you play with 6 people.
And it is a whole lot easier to make a one-sided game than two!
In the Aggarv8ion Rules there is an option for playing with one or two dice. I suggest playing with one die the first few games to familiarize yourself with the game. The two dice option will take longer and require more analysis before making your moves.
To play the game you will need two eight-sided dice numbered 1-8. You can buy these in some hobby stores and online. To use virtual dice, click the link below. One six-sided dice will appear. Click on it and it will disappear. Next click the Purple 8 once or twice depending on which version you decide to play. Start rolling!
Click on the blue button below to view and print out the rules. The purple button will lead to a separate page with instructions on making your own game.
The game on the right is the first Aggarv8ion board I made. It is a two-sided version with a stand that rotates. Click on any picture to enlarge in a new tab.
This little video shows how my first design can rotate around to each player when it is their turn. Click on the inside square to watch full screen.
Aggarv8ed? Not me!
