Welcome to GARsGarbage!
I am a retired Tool & Die Maker who has messed around over the past few decades designing and making games, toys, and other gadgets as a hobby of sorts. I spent a lot of time working on this stuff, but, at times, my mind would drift in another direction. As a project was either finished, or I lost interest in what I was working on, some other hare-brained scheme would soon grab my attention and take over my imagination and energy.
Over the years, a lot of my creations took on the lowly status of discarded and abandoned children’s playthings, straight from a scene in Toy Story. A couple of board games might be found sitting on the back shelf in a basement closet, wrapped in old towels or t-shirts, the game pieces scattered in separate boxes or who knows where. It was almost depressing at times to go down in the basement for the purpose of finding something and come across drawer after drawer of manilla envelopes, stuffed with wrinkled sheets of paper with game rules and garbled notes scribbled on them. Others might contain correspondence with potential business agents from an earlier stage in my life, reminders of other failed endeavors. I might open a few of these envelopes and just shake my head, slip the pages back in their hiding place, and then forget about them.
Well, sometime back in 2021, as the Corona virus continued to disrupt our lives, I started to contemplate organizing and sharing my various toys and games.
In the beginning of this learning experience, my goal was to simply design a small website and devote some pages to a few of my games. I had spent a lot of time developing them, and it bugged me that in all reality they would be packed up in a box one day before eventually ending up in a trash pile.
I knew almost nothing about building a website, although several of my children actually work on some aspect of web-building as their professions. They have their own lives to live, however, so I realized that, if I was going to make this work, I would have to learn a new skill and do it on my own. Development of the new website progressed slowly, but eventually I figured out how to actually put pictures and prose together in a functional way.
On the next page, Explore, I will go over how this website is organized. Feel free to just wander around the other pages a bit and see if anything interests you. If you find something you like or find useful, please share garsgarbage.com with your friends and family.
There is a lot of material here, and I suggest you read it on a laptop or PC to see all the details.
You will be wasting your time trying to see it on a phone because some of the links will not work properly .
Don’t expect to see everything in ten minutes, either. Maybe try looking at different sections, a little at a time. You might enjoy it better without getting bogged down or bored.
Thanks for taking the time to browse around!
Below the garbage can you will find this symbol.
There is at least one at the bottom of every page. Click on it !
If at any time you want to return to the top of a page, click the red arrow on the lower right side.
